Ban on recreational marijuana

In Florida, possession or sale of less than 20 grams of marijuana for recreational purposes is still a misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine, although it’s rarely enforced to that extent. And cops still waste their time and resources busting grow houses that provide a valuable service to people who enjoy smoking pot, a drug that is arguably a lot less harsh, addictive and dangerous than alcohol, not to mention cigarettes. Virtually no one, ever, has died from an overdose of THC, although many have become addicted. And so what? A lot of people are addicted to Coca-Cola and Twitter, too. On the state and federal level, it’s time to get on the right side of history and make marijuana not only a legal medicine but a legal recreational drug as well, so that it can finally be studied, taxed, and used above board, and end this embarrassing chapter in our history.
